I recently removed a white PCB Matrix 1.99 clone which, like the Modbo 4.0 cannot save its settings or correctly disable. At the time I fitted it about 12 years ago it was the only readily available chip with a confirmed wiring diagram for SCPH-9000x models. I just replaced it with a Modbo 5.0 keeping all my original wiring. I double checked all the solder points using the Quade guide and all were consistent with what I had soldered 12 years ago for what it's worth, so basically all Matrix clones seem to use the same wiring. The only difference seems to be that the original Matrix Infinity (which I fitted to my own fat SCPH-39003 back in its prime) had its own clock generator, but the Modbo needs an additional clock connection to the PS2 (CX wire). ![]() Here's a little tip I discovered, since you're playing PS1 backups. If you need GSM to force HDTV display modes, you may have noticed that it doesn't work with Matrix Infinity firmware. All discs are detected as PS2 discs after GSM exits to the Browser. It turns out that you need to boot the PS2 with the circle button held down, which forces the modchip into PS1/DVD mode.
